Board of Visitors

The Citadel's Board of Visitors serves as the Governing Body of the College.  This Board is composed of eleven members who are graduates of the College.  Seven of these members are elected by joint vote of the General   Assembly, three are elected by The Citadel Alumni Association, and one is appointed by the Governor.    Additionally, the Governor, the Adjutant General, and the State Superintendent of Education serve as ex-officio members.  The Board of Visitors provide their guidance on how the College will be organized and run in the   College Regulations. The South Carolina Corps of Cadets

Your Cadet's Chain of Command reports to the President through the Commandant.  The South Carolina Corp of Cadets (SCCC) is led by the Regimental Commander and is assisted by a Regimental Staff.  The Regimental Band also reports to them operationally and administratively through the Second Battalion Commander.

The SCCC is broken down into five battalions - each lead by a Battalion Commander and their staff.  Each Battalion has four companies (Second Battalion has five if you include the Regimental Band).

A company is broken down into platoons which are further divided into squads.  Each company is led by a Company Commander,  platoons by a Platoon Leader and Platoon Sergeant, and squads by Sergeants and Corporals.   In addition to a Company XO and 1st Sergeant, the Commander has special staff who report to him such as the Academic Officer and Human Affairs Teams.

Each Company and Battalion is assigned a TAC Officer who is an employee of the College who serves as a Teacher, Advisor and Coach for the Cadet Chain of Command.  This is someone who will see your cadet just about every day, so it is an important relationship for you to develop over time.   In addition to the TACs, each Battalion has an Non-Commissioned Officer assigned to support the leadership teams.
