TAC Officers

"Being a TAC is one of the most crucial positions for leader development of cadets at The Citadel. The daily interaction and powerful influence TACs have with cadets cannot be overstated." - Captain Geno Paluso, Commandant of Cadets

I start off this section with this quote from the Commandant because it captures the role the TACs will have in your cadet's life.  Most have military experience, but all have a passion to do what they can to develop all those who they Teach, Advise and Coach into Principled Leaders.  We hope you will encourage your cadet to develop a relationship with their TAC.  We recognize this is tough the first year, but as they progress through the years, we hope your cadet will reach out and take advantage of the knowledge and experiences their TACs bring to the College.

This a theme you will hear throughout this program.  The Citadel provides opportunities for your cadet to learn, mature, and develop the traits of a Principled Leader, BUT it is up to them to step forward and take advantage of these opportunities and grow.   I 've had cadets tell me or their parents that their TAC doesn't like them or is mean.  If you hear that, then ask them why they think that and what have they done to develop a relationship with their TAC.  Encourage them to meet with their TAC and discuss their relationship.  Remind them one of the traits of a Principled Leader is to "act and speak with courage."  When they do, they normally find out a lot about themselves and their TAC.

Finally, you should also develop a relationship with your cadet's TACs.  Keep in mind they don't spend a lot of time in their offices, but if you pick up something from your cadet that concerns you, call or email the TAC and discuss it with them.
